New Delhi, May 28: Search efforts to locate a missing Indian-origin climber, Shrinivas Sainis Dattatraya, who successfully scaled Mount Everest on May 19, have unfortunately been unsuccessful, according to his wife's Instagram post. Despite the tireless efforts of the search and rescue team, Shrinivas remains unaccounted for.

His wife, Sushma Soma, shared heartfelt words alongside images of her adventurous husband, describing him as someone who fearlessly embraced life's challenges. She stated, "He explored the depth of the sea and scaled the greatest heights of the Earth... And now, Shri is in the mountains, where he felt most at home."

Shrinivas had informed his wife about his condition, suffering from high-altitude cerebral edema, which made it unlikely for him to descend the mountain. Sherpa teams were dispatched to search for the Singaporean climber, but their efforts proved fruitless. Shrinivas had embarked on this ambitious expedition, aiming to summit both Mount Everest and Mount Lhotse in a single venture, a remarkable feat that would have distinguished him as one of the few individuals from Southeast Asia and the first Singaporean-Indian to accomplish such a remarkable achievement.

Soma expressed her admiration for her husband's unwavering determination and meticulous approach in pursuing his dreams. Shrinivas, an executive director at a real estate firm, managed to strike a balance between his professional commitments and rigorous training for mountaineering expeditions. Soma acknowledged the invaluable support of Shrinivas' guide, Dendi Sherpa, who placed Shrinivas's safety above all else, even at the risk of his own well-being. Dendi's courageous efforts to save Shrinivas resulted in him being hospitalized due to frostbite.

Soma extended her gratitude to the climbing community, the Sherpas from Seven Summit Treks, JLL (Jones Lang LaSalle), and the authorities from Singapore, India, Nepal, and China for their unwavering support during the search and rescue operation. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) expressed its condolences to Shrinivas' family, affirming their commitment to providing consular assistance and support. The MFA also expressed appreciation for the collaborative efforts of all involved in the search mission.

Although the search for Shrinivas has concluded without finding him, his courageous spirit and pursuit of extraordinary dreams will be remembered. The mountaineering community mourns the loss of an adventurer who dared to dream big and challenged the limits of human potential.
