Lok Sabha Polls 2024 | Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut files nomination from Mandi

Lok Sabha Polls 2024 | The BJP contender for the Mandi Lok Sabha seat Kangana Ranaut on Tuesday filed her nomination papers.

Accompanied by her mother and siblings, the Bollywood actor-turned-politician thanked the people of Mandi for her electoral debut.

She was joined by her mother, Asha Ranaut, and sister, Rangoli Chandel. Kangana chose to wear a green saree and accessorized with a Himachali cap for this significant occasion.

Kangana stated that the affection of the people of Mandi had drawn her back to her home state, and she planned to build a name for herself in politics, as she had in movies.

Addressing media, Kangana Ranaut said, "Today I have filed nomination from Mandi LS seat. It is a matter of pride for me to have the opportunity to contest from Mandi... I have been successful in Bollywood and I am hopeful that I will get success in the field of politics as well."

Kangana stated, "Today, I filed my nomination for the Mandi LS seat. It gives me great satisfaction to be able to compete against Mandi. I've been successful in Bollywood, and I'm hoping to be successful in politics as well."

The decision to field Kangana from Mandi, which has traditionally been a stronghold of the ruling Congress in the state, heightens the intrigue surrounding the next Lok Sabha election.

In her first effort for Lower House membership, she confronts a strong opposition from Congress heavyweight Vikramaditya Singh, the son of late former Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh.

On the work front, Kangana Ranaut's forthcoming film, Emergency, is her first solo directorial effort. Earlier this year, she revealed the film's release date as June 14. The film also stars Anupam Kher, Mahima Chaudhary, Milind Soman, Shreyas Talpade, Vishak Nair, and the late Satish Kaushik. The film is around the life of former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, with Kangana playing the late leader.
