38 NDRF teams deployed

A total of 38 National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams have been deployed in Punjab, Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh as relentless rain continued to lash these states on Day 3.

NDRF's 15 teams are deployed in Punjab, 12 in Uttarakhand and 11 in Himachal Pradesh. Some reserve teams of the NDRF are also ready to meet any challenge in an emergency situation in Delhi where the Yamuna river is expected to reach 205.5 meters by tomorrow morning.

HighWeather Today HIGHLIGHTS: Records were broken as heavy rain lashed many areas of North India over the past two days. 

In a recent bout of torrential rains, several parts of North India were severely affected, resulting in the loss of lives and extensive damage to infrastructure. The heavy downpour caused landslides and flash floods, leading to the several deaths 

Cities and towns across the region experienced significant flooding, with roads and residential areas submerged in knee-deep water. 


Chandigarh has witnessed the highest 24-hour rainfall in July, breaking a nearly 23-year-old record. The city experienced its highest-ever rainfall for this season in a single day. 

Punjab and Haryana experienced heavy monsoon rains, leading to massive waterlogging and flooding in low-lying areas. Keeping in view safety and security of children, Punjab and Haryana declared a school holiday for Monday in schools as the state continues to be battered by heavy rains.
