Telangana horror: 5-month-old baby mauled to death by dog in Vikarabad

The escalating population of dog attack in urban and rural areas has led to an increase in incidents involving dog bites, posing a threat to pedestrians, especially children, and leading to a surge in cases of dog bites.

In a tragic and spine-chilling incident, a five-month-old infant named Babusai was fatally attacked by a dog in Tandur, located in Telangana's Vikarabad district.
The baby was asleep at home without supervision when the dog entered and launched the assault. Upon discovering his son deceased, the baby's father, Dattu, reportedly took action and killed the dog.
According to local media reports, the infant's parents had left for work at the time of the incident.
This harrowing event has drawn attention to the escalating occurrences of dog bites and attacks across the country.
The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare noted a significant 26.5 per cent year-on-year increase in such incidents from 2022 to 2023, underscoring the urgency for measures to address public safety concerns related to canine encounters.
Meanwhile, earlier this week a teenage girl fell victim to a dog attack inside the lift of a housing society, with CCTV footage capturing the harrowing incident. The girl suffered a bite on her arm during the ordeal, which quickly circulated on social media platforms.
The incident occurred within the confines of Lotus 300 Society in Noida's Sector 107, as captured by the building's internal CCTV system. The video depicts the girl standing inside the lift, only to be unexpectedly confronted by the dog as the doors open. The canine lunges towards her, resulting in a frantic struggle as she is pushed backward and subsequently bitten on the arm.
The discussion surrounding dog bite cases extends to incidents involving pet dogs. Viral videos depicting pet dogs attacking children in confined areas like elevators have prompted authorities to take action.
