Uttarakhand deploys heavy police force at orders ahead of Kanwar Yatra 2021; details inside

The Uttarakhand government, led by the new Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has suspended the Kanwar Yatra 2021 in view of the coronavirus pandemic which is at a critical stage as the third wave is likely to hit the nation.
All you need to know about Uttarakhand's ban on Kanwar Yatra 2021?
- Police and respective District Magistrates would prepare a standard operating procedure (SOP) on the ban.
- If a Kanwariya is seen on the road, he would be sent back by bus or other means of transport.
- Kanwariyas arriving in Haridwar by train would be asked for de-board at stations and sent back in buses.
- If a Kanwariya is found defying the order and entering Haridwar, he will be put under forced quarantine for 14 days.
- ‘Kanwar enforcement teams’ to be deployed in the Haridwar, Dehradun, Tehri, and Pauri to enforce law and order.
- Uttarakhand Inspector General of Police (law and order) to hold meetings in Haridwar to figure out how holy Ganga water can be delivered in tankers.
- Action against defaulters would be taken under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
- Shopkeepers in the aforementioned districts have not been allowed to sell goods related to Kanwar Yatra.
