Uttarakhand deploys heavy police force at orders ahead of Kanwar Yatra 2021; details inside
The Uttarakhand government, led by the new Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami, has suspended the Kanwar Yatra 2021 in view of the coronavirus pandemic which is at a critical stage as the third wave is likely to hit the nation. Uttarakhand announced a shutdown of its borders for ‘Kanwariyas’ from July 24 in an order to ensure the safety of the people. As per the report, the Quick Reaction Teams will be deployed along with the police force at the borders to stop Kanwariyas from entering the state. As ‘Shravan’ is starting on July 25, the Kanwariyas are likely to enter Haridwar in huge numbers to collect the holy water of the River Ganga. However, those heading towards Haridwar to immerse the ashes of their loved ones will not be stopped.
