PTC News Desk: Over 200 members of the Sikh community came together in West London to rescue a 16-year-old girl who was allegedly abducted by a Pakistani grooming gang, with the suspect taken into police custody after hours of demonstrations and the teen reunited with her family.

The Hounslow incident went viral after a video of the rescue was shared widely on social media. In the video, the accused man is seen being taken away in a police van after hours of protests, which the girl’s parents also attended.

Sikh Community Response

UK-based Sikh groups, including Sikh Youth UK (SYUK), have started a nationwide investigation into grooming cases. Last year, they held emergency seminars because such incidents were increasing.

Reports show that vulnerable Sikh girls are often tricked into relationships that seem friendly at first. Groomers use methods like “love bombing,” bullying, or emotional manipulation. They also take advantage of religious differences to separate the girls from their families. Many cases end in abusive relationships, forced prostitution, and in some rare situations, attempts to recruit girls into extremist groups such as ISIS.

Inquiry into Grooming Gangs in the UK

In June last year, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced a national inquiry into grooming gangs that have sexually abused thousands of girls across the UK. This marked a major change in how the government deals with the issue.

Grooming gangs have been a sensitive and controversial topic for many years. Investigations that began over a decade ago showed that many gangs—often mainly Pakistani men—were involved in grooming, trafficking, and abusing young white girls in towns like Rotherham, Rochdale, and Telford.
