PTC News Desk: Canadian Police have arrested two men in connection with shooting at comedian Kapil Sharma's cafe last year. The accused have been charged in extortion-linked shooting case.

On October 16, 2025, gunshots were fired at Sharma’s restaurant in Surrey for the third time since it opened in July. The Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) said in a statement on Friday that two 22-year-old suspects, Pardeep Singh and Saveer Khan, were arrested on November 1.

The police said both men have also been charged in connection with another shooting incident.

According to the RCMP, officers responded to a report of gunfire at a cafe in the 8400-block of 120 Street on October 16, 2025. Although the cafe was closed at the time, two employees were inside. Neither of them was injured.

In another incident on October 12, police received a report of gunfire at a house in Surrey. A woman was injured in the shooting.

Both suspects have been charged with one count each of reckless discharge of a firearm in connection with the October 12 incident. They face another similar charge each for the October 16 shooting.

The RCMP said the BC Extortion Task Force took over both investigations after police found possible links between the two incidents.

Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, Lower Mainland District Operations Officer and Assistant District Commander, said the charges followed an extensive investigation over the past year. This included court-approved authorisations, search warrants and a detailed examination of evidence.

Pound said the charges send a clear message to those involved in extortion-related violence that law enforcement agencies are working together to protect public safety.

“The BC Extortion Task Force assumed conduct of both investigations after potential linkages between the incidents were identified,” the RCMP said.

“These charges are the result of extensive investigative work conducted over the past year, including multiple judicial authorisations, search warrants, and detailed analysis of evidence,” it quoted Chief Superintendent Duncan Pound, Lower Mainland District Operations Officer and Assistant District Commander as saying.
