Bihar: SSB neutralises two hardcore Naxals in joint operation

Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB) forces in Bihar have neutralised two hardcore Naxals in a joint operation with local police and a Special Task Force (STF), said officials on Thursday. The SSB said a joint operation was conducted out by its troops, Bihar police and the STF on Tuesday at around 3.30 p.m., based on intelligence input. During the operation, an exchange of fire between the joint team and the Naxals occurred at 9.30 a.m. on Wednesday near Ghoghi Kodasi under Police Station Piribazar in Lakhisarai (Bihar). The Naxals who were neutralised in the operation have been identified as Virendra Kodan and Jagdish Koda. Security forces seized one factory-made SLR rifle with magazine, one country-made pistol with magazine, 177 rounds of 7.62 mm and 9 mm ammunition, one cane bomb and one walkie-talkie during the operation. The SSB stated, "The bodies of neutralised Naxals along with recovered arms and ammunition were handed over to police." Director General SSB congratulated and praised the troops for their exemplary service and declared that the troops involved in the operation will be rewarded.
