CBI arrests absconding accused of teen's rape case in Nadia

New Delhi, April 17: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Saturday arrested an absconding accused in the investigation of a case related to the alleged gang rape and murder of a teenage girl in West Bengal's Nadiya district. In accordance with the directions of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI registered the case on April 13 and took over the investigation of the case previously filed with the Hanskhali Police Station in Nadiya on allegations of gang rape and murder of a minor girl. One of the suspects reportedly involved in the incident has eluded capture during the investigation. On Saturday, CBI apprehended him and he will be produced before the Competent Court on Sunday. The victim's family had accused the son of a Trinamool Congress (TMC) panchayat leader in the case. The victim’s family also alleged that her body was cremated without an autopsy under pressure from a local TMC panchayat leader. Early next morning, as her condition deteriorated, we went to look for a doctor. By the time we returned, she had died. She was raped by Samar Goala’s son.
