Chandigarh: Panjab University students stage protest over Jamia Millia Islamia police action

Chandigarh: The Students For Society (SFS) on Monday came in support of Jamia Millia Islamia students, as it staged protest at Panjab University. The clash between the Delhi Police and the students of Jamia Millia Islamia took place on Sunday evening, where buses and private vehicles were set ablaze during the protests.
Meanwhile, there are several videos making rounds on the internet where the students of Jamia Millia students can be seen getting beaten by the police. The incident has outraged the students across the country. Students in Aligarh Muslim University extended the support for the Jamia students and staged a protest.
Likewise, students from Nadwa College, Lucknow, also staged a protest. Now, Chandigarh's Panjab University has extended its support for the Jamia Millia Islamia University students. Also, Prime Minister Narendra Modi appealed to the students to maintain peace, unity and brotherhood. He said, "It is my appeal to everyone to stay away from any sort of rumour mongering and falsehoods."
He added that "The Citizenship Amendment Act, 2019 was passed by both Houses of Parliament with overwhelming support. Large number of political parties and MPs supported its passage. This Act illustrates India’s centuries old culture of acceptance, harmony, compassion and brotherhood."
