Patiala, February 9: Former Punjab chief minister and Punjab Lok Congress chief Captain Amarinder Singh slammed the Congress leadership in the poll-bound state, saying that the party's Chief Ministerial face Charanjit Singh Channi is good enough to become a state minister but not CM and party state head Navjot Singh Sidhu is an "irresponsible person." "Both Sidhu and Channi are not good for Punjab. Channi can become a minister but not CM whereas Sidhu is not a responsible person," said the ex-Congress leader on Tuesday. Further speaking at a rally in Patiala, Capt Amarinder took a swipe at Aam Aadmi Party chief Arvind Kejriwal over his promise to pay Rs 1,000 per month to every woman in Punjab if chosen to power. He said that Delhi Chief Minister should make this promise come true for the state he is governing and then make promises in Punjab. Following the acrimonious split with the grand old party, Amarinder Singh has formed his own political outfit to contest the upcoming 2022 Punjab elections. Capt Amarinder hits out at Channi, Sidhu Just days ahead of the assembly elections in Punjab, Rahul Gandhi announced Channi as the party's Chief Ministerial candidate on Sunday in Patiala. For the unversed, the Punjab Lok Congress Party, led by Amarinder Singh, is contesting the elections in coalition with the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt). Capt Amarinder hits out at Channi, Sidhu Punjab will hold elections on February 20 and the results will be announced on March 10. In the 2017 Assembly election in Punjab, Congress won an absolute majority by winning 77 seats and ousted the SAD-BJP government which had been in power for 10 years.
