Covid vaccine availability update: The Central government announced on Tuesday that States and UTs still have more than 11.81 crore balance and unutilized vaccine doses. “More than 168.08 crores (1,68,08,95,505) vaccine doses have been provided to States/UTs so far through Government of India (free of cost channel) and through direct state procurement category,” said the ministry of health and family welfare. “More than 11.81 Cr (11,81,50,461) balance and unutilized Covid Vaccine doses are still available with the States/UTs to be administered,” the ministry informed further. Covid vaccine availability update The vaccination drive is expanded by the availability of more vaccines, improved visibility of vaccine availability for States and UTs to enable better planning and a more efficient vaccine supply chain. Covid vaccine availability update The Union Government will procure and supply (free of charge) 75 percent of the vaccines manufactured by vaccine makers in the country to States and UTs in the new phase of the Covid-19 vaccination effort. Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 vaccination coverage has surpassed 170.21 crore (1,70,21,72,615) in the previous 24 hours, with 55,78,297 vaccine doses administered. Covid vaccine availability update At the same time, the Centre informed the Supreme Court that an Aadhaar card is not mandatory for Covid-19 vaccine registration on the CoWIN portal. The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare notified a bench of Justices D Y Chandrachud and Surya Kant that one of nine identity documents, including passports, driving licences, PAN cards, voter’s cards, and ration cards, can be provided for vaccination.
