Punjab Hooch tragedy: Congress MP fires salvo CM on defence
Punjab Hooch tragedy: While hundreds of people have died due to spurious liquor in Punjab, Shamsher Dullo, Congress Rajya Sabha MP, said that it couldn't have happened without the knowledge of government and police.
He said that "It's a big tragedy, such a thing has never happened in Punjab. It couldn't have happened without the knowledge of the government and police. That is why no action is being taken. How did raw material for liquor come amid curfew?" he said.
He also said that "I had warned the state government a month back in writing, even wrote to Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and Dr. Manmohan Singh... but no action was taken. The government seems to be in cahoots with smugglers."
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh took to Twitter and shared a video on the Punjab Hooch tragedy.
He said that "Deaths caused by illicit alcohol are extremely sad and unfortunate. Punjab Police and Excise Departments have been tasked to nab all those responsible, irrespective of their affiliations and position."

He further assured the people of Punjab that "no one will be spared and guilty will be punished to ensure justice."
