Chandigarh: Ward boy of GMCH tests positive for coronavirus; Sector 35 man discharged
A ward boy working in the general surgery operation theatre at the GMCH, Sector 32, Chandigarh, has tested positive for coronavirus on Saturday. He has been identified as a resident of Bapu Dham Colony, Sector 26. He has been admitted to the GMCH and will be shifted to the Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER). Meanwhile, a team of PGI has lined up outside the Nehru Hospital Extension block, designated as the coronavirus hospital, to cheer when a 49-year-old man from Sector 35 was discharged after winning the war against coronavirus. He met his family after 21 days at the hospital. He said: “I want to express my gratitude for the care I received at PGIMER. I have been actually given a second lease of life,” he said. Prof Jagat Ram, Director, PGI, said that the resident has made an incredible recovery. His discharge marks a positive milestone for the PGI. This is really motivating for our frontline warriors, he said. The resident was admitted to the GMSH, Sector 16, on March 30 where he was tested positive for the pandemic. Likewise, he was shifted to the PGI on April 3. He had a history of contact with nephews returning from Dubai and Singapore (residents of Punjab).
