India reports 9000+ coronavirus cases in 24 hours for 5th day in a row

India reported the highest single-day spike of 9,983 new coronavirus cases in the last 24 hours, as of Monday morning. Likewise, 206 new deaths were reported. The total number of cases in the country has now increased to 2,56,611 out of which 1,25,381 are active cases, 1,24,095 are cured and discharged while 7,135 patients succumbed to the pandemic, the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare stated. The religious places, shopping malls and restaurants have been allowed to open from Monday. The development comes at a time when the coronavirus cases in India has picked the pace. The country has been reporting 9000+ cases for the past few days. Currently, India is having the fifth worst-hit coronavirus tally in the world as it surpassed Spain on Sunday. In the meanwhile, the Indian Navy has started the evacuation of citizens from Iran. The Indian Navy Ship INS Shardul has entered the Port of Bandar Abbas, Iran on Monday morning to bring back Indian citizens. AWARENESS AND NOT ANXIETY IS THE KEY TO FIGHTING COVID-19 In the last two weeks, around 79 government doctors have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Hyderabad, a report said. The latest cases were reported from Nizam’s Institute of Medical Sciences (NIMS), where four doctors and three paramedics were tested positive. Tamil Nadu has 31,667 COVID-19 cases out of which 14,399 are active cases, 16,999 cured and discharged while 269 deaths have been reported from the state. Delhi has reported 27,654 cases out of which 16,229 have been cured while 761 died in the national capital. -PTC News
