Punjab: Two test positive in preliminary test for coronavirus in Amritsar

While the Punjab government has clarified that the coronavirus had not been declared as an epidemic in Punjab, two men from the state, who returned from Italy on Wednesday, have been tested positive for coronavirus in the preliminary test. The duo has been admitted to the isolation ward of the Guru Nanak Dev Hospital (GNDH) in Amritsar. As per the report, both the patients showed symptoms of the disease when they arrived at Sri Guru Ram Das Jee International Airport in Amritsar, from the European country, through the Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. Meanwhile, their samples have been sent for the second confirmation examination. The results for the second test will be out by Saturday evening or Sunday morning.

Coronavirus in India

The total number of cases reported in India is 31 so far while more than 100,000 cases have been reported across the globe. Meanwhile, the Health Minister Dr. Harsh Vardhan will meet Prime Minister Narendra Modi over the Coronavirus issue. Likewise, PM Modi has suggested to avoid handshakes and start greeting others with Namaste. Also, he appealed to the people to stay away from the rumors.

Coronavirus in Jammu and Kashmir?

The Jammu and Kashmir administration declared that the union territory is coronavirus free on Friday. However, the test reports of the two suspected patients from Jammu have shown that both of them are high viral load cases. There are high probabilities of reports to be positive. SAD protest rally postponed

Amid growing concerns over the novel coronavirus, Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President decided to postpone all the protest rallies. Meanwhile, a rally was scheduled to be held on Saturday at Mansa, which has been postponed. -PTC News
