Coronavirus India update: A foreign student at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, Uttarakhand, has tested positive for Covid-19, while the reports of four other students from abroad have come negative, said the IIT administration.
The student had reached India on September 28. The infected foreign student and others who came in contact with him at the Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT), Roorkee, Uttarakhand, have been isolated.
After reviewing coronavirus situation in the state, the Uttarakhand Government had earlier decided to extend Covid-19 induced curfew across the state till October 19.
This comes even as the Uttarakhand Government had approached the Uttarakhand High Court seeking the removal of the daily limit imposed on the number of pilgrims visiting Char Dhams.
Meanwhile, as the latest coronavirus update, India reported 18,166 fresh Covid-19 infections and 214 deaths in the last 24 hours. The death toll in the country now stands at 4,50,589. At present, the active caseload of the country is 2,30,971 --- the lowest in 208 days.
A total of 12,83,212 tests were conducted in the last 24 hours, and so far, India has conducted over 58.25 crores (58,25,95,693) Covid tests.
