Air India Express aircraft makes emergency landing in Kochi after failure of both tyres
PTC Web Desk: An Air India Express flight operating from Jeddah to Kozhikode was forced to make an emergency landing at Cochin International Airport on Thursday after experiencing a technical malfunction related to its landing gear, the airport authorities confirmed.
The aircraft, carrying around 160 passengers, was diverted to Kochi after the crew detected a problem with the right main landing gear, which later led to tyre failure. Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL) said the plane touched down safely at 9.07 am with full emergency preparedness in place.
According to airport officials, all emergency response teams were deployed well before the aircraft landed, ensuring a smooth and controlled operation. No injuries were reported among passengers or crew members. A post-landing examination revealed that both tyres on the right side of the aircraft had burst.
After necessary safety checks and clearance procedures, the runway was reopened for regular flight operations, CIAL added.
