Coronavirus Update, COVID positivity in Punjab: A total of 24.19 percent of Punjab’s population has been infected by Covid, as per the second Sero survey conducted in 12 districts of Punjab.
Sharing the findings of the second SERO survey in Punjab, conducted among randomly selected districts and population, Health Secretary Hussan Lal informed a high-level meeting chaired by Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh that a total of 4678 participants were interviewed and their blood samples collected.

Of these, 1201 tested IgG reactive, of which only 4.03 percent were symptomatic and 95.9 percent were asymptomatic, he said while giving a coronavirus update in Punjab.
The urban areas showed a COVID positivity rate of 30.5 percent, while rural areas reported 21.0 percent positivity.

Ludhiana, with 54.6 percent total positivity and 71.7 percent urban positivity was found to be the worst hit, followed by Ferozepur, Jalandhar and SAS Nagar (Mohali). Female positivity was found to be higher in both urban and rural areas.
Each district was assigned the task of completing a sample size of 400, with 200 from rural areas and 200 from urban areas.
In the wake of COVID positivity in Punjab, the state government has ordered the extension of night curfew and curb on the number of people at gatherings till January 1, 2021.
