Delhi heatwave: IMD issues red alert, downpour expected after 48 hours
PTC News Desk: The residents of Delhi will have to grapple with scorching heat on Thursday as well as the weather department has issued a red alert for the heat wave with temperatures constantly soaring.
The temperature stood between 43 to 45 degrees Celsius. The humidity conditions are also expected to be on the higher side.
Amid a red alert for heat wave, residents are advised to stay hydrated, avoid coming under direct exposure to sun, and skip unnecessary outdoor movement, especially during the afternoon when the summer heat is at its peak.
"The severe heat is expected to persist till Thursday. A western disturbance is likely to affect northwest India from the night of June 13, which may bring light rain and thunderstorms in Delhi," IMD scientist, Dr Naresh Kumar said.
From June 14 to 17, Delhi could witness a drop in temperatures to 37-42 degrees Celsius, accompanied by light to moderate rainfall and gusty winds.
