Adipurush director kisses Kriti Sanon at Tirupati temple, sparks controversy
Viral video: The controversies surrounding the upcoming film Adipurush are far from over. Om Raut, the film's director, is now being criticised for his recent actions. Raut sparked controversy after a video of him kissing Kriti Sanon on her cheek went viral on social media, prompting many people to raise objections.
In the video which is now going viral, the director can be seen bidding goodbye to Kriti as the latter leaves the premise of Tirupati temple.
Adipurush's team, including the film's lead Prabhas, unveiled the trailer at Tirupati's Sri Venkateswara University Stadium.
On Wednesday morning, Om Raut and Kriti Sanon visited the Lord Venkateswara temple in Tirupati. Raut kissed Kriti on the cheek as they exited the temple grounds and she drove away in her car. Certain people, notably Ramesh Naidu Nagothu, the BJP State Secretary in Andhra Pradesh, were not pleased with the gesture.
“Is it really necessary to bring your antics to a sacred place? Engage in public displays of affection, like kissing and hugging in front of the Lord Venkateswara Swamy temple in Tirumala is deemed disrespectful and unacceptable," Nagothu said in a now-deleted tweet.
Meanwhile, many came to Raut's rescue and said there was nothing wrong with the way Raut bid Sanon goodbye.
"Is it bad to give a kiss to our friend in Tirumala," a user said, while another wrote, "See nothing wrong with it... What is so controversial about this? A goodbye kiss on the cheek by a dear friend."
"There is no vulgarity in om rout gesture but of course, if vulgar people would like to see it that way they will, just like you," a third person said.
