Anup Ghoshal, renowned singer of 'Tujhse Naraaz Nahi Zindagi' song, dies aged 77
PTC Web Desk: Renowned Bengali singer Anup Ghoshal, best known for his memorable rendition of the song "Tujhse naraz nahin zindagi" from the 1983 film 'Masoom' and for his contributions to several musicals by Satyajit Ray, passed away on Friday, as confirmed by his family. Ghoshal, aged 77, leaves behind two daughters.
He had been undergoing treatment at a private hospital in south Kolkata for age-related ailments for the past few days and succumbed to multi-organ failure at 1:40 pm. In addition to his musical legacy, Ghoshal had also ventured into politics, winning the 2011 Assembly election from the Uttarpara constituency on a Trinamool Congress ticket. West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee expressed her condolences, mourning the loss and acknowledging Anup Ghoshal's contributions across Bengali, Hindi, and other languages.
A versatile singer, Ghoshal showcased his talent through songs by Kaji Nazrul Islam, Rabindranath Tagore, and modern Bengali compositions. His association with Satyajit Ray's films like 'Goopy Gyne Bagha Byne' (The Adventures of Goopy and Bagha, 1969) and 'Hirak Rajar Deshe' (Kingdom of Diamonds, 1980) highlighted his prowess as a playback singer. Director Tapan Sinha also featured Ghoshal's voice in his movie Sagina Mahato (1971).
