Border 2 release date announced: Diljit Dosanjh shares first-look poster after FWICE clears film
PTC Web Desk: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh’s controversy-hit film Border 2 finally has a confirmed release date. The film is now set to hit theatres on January 23, 2026, a date officially announced by him through his social media accounts.
Diljit Dosanjh unveiled the film’s first-look poster on Instagram, where he appears in an Indian Air Force blue uniform. The poster shows him in a dramatic, war-time moment, flying a jet while covered in blood, hinting at an intense battle sequence in the movie. Earlier, actors Sunny Deol and Varun Dhawan had also shared the film’s first-look posters on their social handles.
Border 2 had remained stuck for a long time due to ongoing disputes. The Federation of Western India Cine Employees (FWICE) had objected to Diljit Dosanjh’s involvement in the film, claiming he had recently collaborated with a Pakistani actress on another project.
According to FWICE, Indian artists should avoid any form of collaboration with Pakistani talent due to the existing ban. Since Border 2 is a patriotic film, the federation argued that casting Diljit Dosanjh went “against national sentiment.”
FWICE even issued an official letter to the makers demanding that Diljit Dosanjh be removed from the project.
The makers submitted a written appeal to FWICE, stating that Diljit Dosanjh had already completed shooting his portions and replacing him would cause crores of rupees in losses.
After reviewing the appeal, FWICE granted approval, lifting its objection with the condition that the makers follow federation guidelines strictly in future productions.
Following this clearance, Diljit Dosanjh released the film’s first-look poster, which once again drew massive fan attention and appreciation across social media.
A sequel to the iconic 1997 war classic Border, the new film stars Sunny Deol, Varun Dhawan and Diljit Dosanjh in lead roles.
The makers describe Border 2 as one of the biggest patriotic films ever made, featuring large-scale Air Force action, ground battle sequences and high-intensity war visuals.
