Dhurandhar creates history at box office; becomes highest-grossing Hindi film worldwide in 28 days
PTC Web Desk: Ranveer Singh’s action thriller 'Dhurandhar' continues its extraordinary run at the box office, rewriting records even in its fourth week. As the film completed 28 days in theatres, it achieved a milestone no Hindi film has managed before, emerging as the highest-grossing Hindi movie globally, surpassing the benchmarks set by 'Pushpa 2' (Hindi version) and Shah Rukh Khan’s 'Jawan'.
Dhurandhar Box Office performance after 4 weeks
By the end of its fourth week, 'Dhurandhar' collected an estimated Rs 739 crore net in India, translating to around Rs 886.8 crore gross domestically. The film is now the first-ever Bollywood release to cross the Rs 700 crore net mark in the Indian market. Trade analysts expect it to breach Rs 800 crore net within the next week if the momentum continues.
The film’s international performance has been equally strong. Despite facing a ban in several Gulf countries, traditionally lucrative markets for Hindi cinema, 'Dhurandhar' has earned over $28 million overseas. A major contributor to this figure is its exceptional run in the United States, where it has crossed $17 million, marking one of the strongest North American performances by a Hindi-only release.
Worldwide collection and global ranking
With combined domestic and international earnings, Dhurandhar’s worldwide gross now stands at approximately Rs 1,141 crore, placing it as the seventh highest-grossing Indian film of all time. Only 'Dangal', 'Baahubali 2', 'Pushpa 2', 'RRR', 'KGF: Chapter 2' and 'Jawan' remain ahead on the all-India list.
What makes this achievement particularly notable is that 'Dhurandhar' achieved these numbers without any dubbed versions. Unlike other films in the top 10, which benefitted from multi-language releases, 'Dhurandhar' was released only in Hindi, making its performance unprecedented.
Dhurandhar overtakes Pushpa 2 and Jawan (Hindi versions)
While Dangal remains the highest-grossing Indian film globally, a significant portion of its revenue came from its Chinese release. Similarly, films like 'Baahubali 2' and 'Pushpa 2' saw massive contributions from multiple language versions.
Trade figures suggest that Jawan earned nearly Rs 80 crore worldwide from its Tamil and Telugu dubbed versions, placing its Hindi-only worldwide gross at around Rs 1,080 crore. Pushpa 2’s Hindi version earned close to Rs 1,087 crore globally. 'Dhurandhar' has now surpassed both, securing its position as the top-grossing Hindi film worldwide.
Directed by Aditya Dhar, 'Dhurandhar' features Ranveer Singh in the role of Hamza, an Indian intelligence operative who infiltrates terror and criminal networks in Karachi. The high-octane spy thriller also stars Akshaye Khanna, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, and R Madhavan in pivotal roles.
Given the film’s overwhelming success, the makers have already confirmed Dhurandhar Part 2, which is scheduled for release in March 2026.
