'Gadar 2' earnings: Sunny Deol, Ameesha Patel-starrer 'Gadar 2' earns over Rs 200 cr at box office
PTC Web Desk: 'Gadar 2', featuring Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel, has amassed a remarkable box office collection of over Rs 200 crore within just five days of its release. According to industry experts, the movie earned a substantial Rs 56 crore on Independence Day alone.
This sequel to 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' has quickly surged to the top of Sunny Deol's career, becoming his highest-grossing film within just two days of hitting the screens.
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel's movie garnered an impressive reception at the box office on Independence Day on August 15. Rough estimates from Sacnilk.com suggest that the film amassed a staggering Rs 55.5 crore on this significant day.
According to Sacnilk.com, the film commenced its journey with an opening of Rs 40 crore on Friday, followed by collections of Rs 43 crore on Saturday and Rs 51 crore on Sunday. Demonstrating steady performance, the movie experienced a relatively modest decline on Monday, amassing around Rs 38 crore. As of now, the film's five-day net collection has reached an impressive total of Rs 229 crore.
Sunny Deol and Ameesha Patel actively participated in nationwide promotion for 'Gadar 2'. Sunny Deol was in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, on Tuesday. As part of the Independence Day festivities, he participated in an event at the Infantry Research Centre and Museum within the Mhow cantonment, situated around 25 km from Indore.
As per trade analyst Taran Adarsh, the long-awaited sequel to the hit 2001 film 'Gadar: Ek Prem Katha' registered its biggest single-day haul yet on Independence Day.
"CREATES HISTORY ON INDEPENDENCE DAY… Highest-ever biz on *15 August*… Yes, #Gadar2 hits the ball out of the stadium on #IndependenceDay… Fri 40.10 cr, Sat 43.08 cr, Sun 51.70 cr, Mon 38.70 cr, Tue 55.40 cr. Total: ₹ 228.98 cr. #India biz… BLOCKBUSTER RUN continues," trade analyst Taran Adarsh wrote.
"#Gadar2 faced capacity issues - not just at single screens, but also at multiplexes - on #IndependenceDay… The demand is clearly more than supply in this case, since #OMG2 has taken away a substantial number of screens, shows, footfalls and revenue… Just imagine the potential of #Gadar2 if it was a solo release," Adarsh added.
Sunny took to Instagram and shared the film's collection poster.
On Monday, 'Gadar 2' team held a press conference about the film's huge success. Sharing how he initially reacted seeing the audience's love for 'Gadar 2', Sunny said, "I was quite stressed before the release of the movie. When the movie was released, I cried and laughed the entire night. My father was around and he saw me. I told him, 'I have not had alcohol. Main khush aa main ki kara (I am happy, what can I do)'."
Directed by Anil Sharma, 'Gadar 2' is a sequel to the successful film that originally hit theaters in 2001. In the movie, Sunny Deol portrayed the character of Tara, a truck driver, while Ameesha portrayed Sakina. The narrative is set against the backdrop of India's partition in 1947. In 'Gadar 2', the storyline revolves around Tara Singh, portrayed by Sunny Deol, embarking on a bold mission to cross the border and rescue his son, played by Utkarsh Sharma, who has been taken captive in Pakistan.
