Chamkila: Actress Parineeti Chopra recently shared a glimpse into her intense workout routine, shedding light on the efforts put in for her role in Imtiaz Ali's upcoming film, Chamkila. In a video posted on Monday, she showcased her rigorous gym sessions, accompanied by a heartfelt note detailing her transformation for the role of late Punjabi folk singer Amarjot Kaur.
The actress revealed dedicating six months to recording music in AR Rahman's studio while deliberately gaining 15 kilograms for her portrayal in Chamkila. Her routine involved singing sessions followed by indulging in junk food to achieve the desired physical transformation for the character. However, now that filming is completed, Parineeti expressed missing her music sessions and is tirelessly working out in the gym to regain her former physique.
Acknowledging the challenging journey, she emphasised her commitment to the role and her gratitude towards Imtiaz Ali. She highlighted her ongoing efforts to return to her original appearance, distinct from Amarjot ji, the character she portrayed in the film. Imtiaz Ali had previously unveiled the project, a biopic centered on the late singer Amar Singh Chamkila, known for his tragic demise at the age of 27 in 1988. The film stars Diljit Dosanjh as Chamkila, alongside Parineeti Chopra in a pivotal role. The film marks the collaboration of Imtiaz Ali and AR Rahman, known for their past works in acclaimed films like Rockstar, Highway, and Tamasha.
Scheduled for a 2024 release on Netflix, Amar Singh Chamkila promises to narrate the captivating and unheard narrative of Punjab's celebrated artist, reflecting the amalgamation of talent from renowned names in Indian cinema.
