‘Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa’: US Border Patrol officer’s fluent Punjabi wins hearts online

PTC Web Desk: A video showing a US Border Patrol officer speaking fluent Punjabi with travellers at a checkpoint has gone viral on social media, leaving many viewers impressed by his language skills and friendly manner.

The clip shows the officer interacting with Punjabi travellers during a routine border check. Instead of speaking in English, he greets them in Punjabi with “Waheguru Ji Ka Khalsa, Waheguru Ji Ki Fateh” before casually continuing the conversation.

While speaking to a truck driver, the officer asks whether he is Punjabi and jokingly refers to him as being from Canada. He then asks what is inside the truck.

When the driver replies that the vehicle is carrying cardboard, the officer responds with a smile, “Gatte, you mean?”, using the Punjabi word for cardboard.

The conversation continues as the officer asks about the driver's family and what he is carrying with him.

When the driver mentions home-cooked food, the officer responds warmly, saying, “Ghar da khana... bahut swaad!” before ending the interaction with “Sat Sri Akal.”

The unusual interaction has quickly attracted attention across social media platforms, with the video reportedly being viewed by millions of people.

Many viewers have praised the officer for his command of Punjabi and his respectful approach towards Punjabi travellers.

The clip has particularly resonated with Punjabi social media users, who have appreciated the officer's effort to communicate in their native language during a routine border inspection.

The video continues to circulate widely online, turning an otherwise ordinary checkpoint interaction into a viral moment.
