'The Trial' co-star Noor Malabika Das found dead; police perform last rites
PTC Web Desk: Actor Noor Malabika Das was found dead in her Mumbai flat, the police said on Monday, suspecting she died by suicide. Noor Malabika Das, a former Qatar Airways air hostess, co-starred with Kajol in the 2023 legal drama, 'The Trial'. Her body was found on Thursday in her Lokhandwala flat after neighbours alerted the police about a foul smell emanating from the residence. She hailed from Assam.
The police broke open the door and found the 37-year-old actor's body in a decomposed state. The All Indian Cine Workers Association has urged Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Home Minister Devendra Fadnavis to conduct a thorough investigation into the suspected suicide.
The association stressed the need for the government to address the underlying causes behind these recurring tragedies in the Indian film industry.
Meanwhile, as per a report in Mid-Day, the police performed her last rites as no one from her family came forward despite repeated attempts. The last rites were done with the help of the Mamdani Health and Education Trust NGO.
