Virat Kohli's 50 ODI centuries: In a heartwarming tribute to Indian cricket maestro Virat Kohli, wifey and actor Anushka Sharma penned down an appreciation note for her King Kohli for his remarkable achievement in surpassing his record of ODI centuries.
Taking to her social media handle, Anushka Sharma penned an appreciation note on her Instagram story and captioned, "God is the best script writer. Utterly grateful to him for blessing me with your love, and to watch you grow from strength and achieve all that you have and will, being honest to yourself and to the sport always. You are truly god’s child."
Notably, Virat reached the milestone during India's ongoing World Cup semifinal against New Zealand at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium.
This is Virat's eighth fifty-plus score of this tournament, with three of them being centuries. He has overtaken Sachin and Shakib's tally of seven such scores in the 2003 and 2019 World Cups respectively. While Sachin had only one century out of these seven knocks, Shakib had two.
Virat has a total of 50 ODI centuries in 291 ODIs. He has overtaken his childhood idol Sachin Tendulkar, who scored 49 ODI centuries in his decorated career.
This was also Virat's 80th international cricket century. The star batter also has 29 Test centuries in 111 Tests and one T20I century in 115 matches. He is the second-highest century scorer of all time in international cricket and is chasing Sachin's record of 100 international tons.
Virat is now the third-highest run-scorer in all of Cricket World Cup history. In 36 matches, he has scored 1,731 runs at an average of 61.46, with the best score of 117. He has scored five centuries in his WC career so far, with 11 fifties as well.
Kohli's 50th ODI century not only signifies an extraordinary accomplishment in his illustrious career but also cements his legacy as one of the game's modern greats, following in the footsteps of his revered predecessor, Sachin Tendulkar.
