Fire breaks out at scrap shop in Hyderabad's Bhoiguda; 11 charred to death

Hyderabad (Telangana), March 23: As many as eleven people were killed after a fire broke out in a scrap shop in Hyderabad's Bhoiguda on Wednesday. According to Gandhi Nagar Station House Officer (SHO) Mohan Rao, a total of 12 people were inside the scrap house at the time of the incident. Out of the 12 people, one person survived. "A total of 12 members were inside the scrap shop. Bodies of 11 labourers have been shifted to Gandhi hospital," he informed. 11 killed in Hyderabad fire The eleven people were burnt beyond recognition, according to a police official, who added that the cause of the fire was being investigated. The bodies of the victims, all migrant workers, were discovered on the first floor of the building, according to police and fire officials. 11 killed in Hyderabad fire Officials claim that the eleven people who were sleeping on the first floor of the building were unable to save themselves since there was only one internal spiral staircase. SHO Rao stated that although the reason behind the fire is yet to be ascertained, a "short circuit" could be the cause. 11 killed in Hyderabad fire Prime Minister Narendra Modi has condoled the death of 11 labourers and announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each for the next of kin. "Pained by the loss of lives due to a tragic fire in Bhoiguda, Hyderabad. My thoughts are with the bereaved families in this hour of grief. An ex-gratia of Rs 2 lakh each from PMNRF would be given to the next of kin of the deceased," read a tweet by the Prime Minister's Office (PMO). Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekhara Rao has also announced ex-gratia of Rs 5 lakh each for the families of victims.
