Harsimrat Badal determined to waive off GST on langar items Union Minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal for the last one year has been determined to waiver off Goods and Service Tax on material used for langar. To serve people has been her utmost agenda - be it distributing sweets in schools and encouraging children to study well. Or be it addressing three important issues on the social agenda of the country- the adverse gender ratio (and women’s empowerment), preservation of trees (and environment protection) and lack of Inter Faith harmony (promote secularism and saving humanity), Harsimrat Badal has always stood first. Having written to Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley earlier and now Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Harsimrat Badal has left no stone unturned in making langar items GST free. Speaking on the social service that langar is, Harsimrat Badal said, 'People across religions have said that there should be no tax on material used for Langar. I've been fighting for this for a year. Now I have written to PM saying that no more delay should be there in removing GST from material used for preparing Langar', Harsimrat Kaur Badal Langar is one of the world's largest charitable kitchen. People who donate money at the shrine want it to be utilised for feeding as many people as possible.
