India logs 2.34 lakh new Covid-19 cases in 24 hours, positivity rate at 14.50%

Covid-19 Update: India reported 2,34,281 new Covid-19 cases and 893 deaths in the last 24 hours, informed the Union Ministry of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday. The number of fresh Covid-19 cases recorded on Sunday morning are marginally lower than the figure reported on Saturday. The country also logged 3,52,784 Covid-19 recoveries in the last 24 hours, according to Health Ministry's latest update. With this active Covid-19 caseload of India stands at 18,84,937, with the daily positivity rates at 14.50 percent. While the weekly positivity rate is 16.4 percent. Meanwhile, India’s Covid-19 vaccine coverage rose to 1,65,70,60,692. Over 75 percent of the eligible population in the country is fully vaccinated, informed Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya. On achieving this feat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi congratulated the people of India, tweeting "75% of all adults are fully vaccinated. Congratulations to our fellow citizens for this momentous feat. Proud of all those who are making our vaccination drive a success." Furthermore, Delhi reported 4,483 new Covid-19 cases on Saturday, with a positivity rate of 7.41 percent. As many as 28 new deaths were reported in the national capital in the day. As many as 8,807 people infected by the Covid-19 virus were recovered in the last 24 hours. As of now, the total number of active Covid cases in Delhi is 24,800.
