JeM commander Sajjad Afghani, another terrorist killed in Shopian encounter

Two terrorists including Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) terrorist Sajjad Afghani killed in a Shopian encounter in Jammu and Kashmir on Monday. According to the information, Afghani was involved in the recruitment of new youths into terrorism. The Shopian encounter restarted in the Rawalpora area in Jammu and Kashmir. Meanwhile, the police recovered an AK-47 rifle with a UBL shell and a USA-made rifle's M-4 carbine from the site of the encounter. Thus, the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar, congratulated the police and security forces for eliminating Sajjad Afghani, alias Vilayat Hussain Lone, who was one of the most-wanted militants in Kashmir. The encounter started on March 13 when one terrorist, identified as Jahangir Ahmad Wani, was killed during the operation. The J&K Police stated that Wani was a resident of Rakh Narapora of Shopian and was affiliated with Lashkar-e-Taiba. Wani was active since September 2020. He was involved in several terror cases including attacks on security forces and civilian atrocities. Likewise, a joint search operation was launched on Saturday by the police, 34 Rashtriya Rifles, and 14 Battalion of CRPF.
