As many as five Pakistani terrorists from the active militant groups Lashkar-e-Taiba (Let) and Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) have been killed in Jammu and Kashmir after 12 hours long continuous and relentless operations, informed the Police on Sunday. The encounters took place during anti-terror operations in Pulwama and Budgam districts on Saturday evening, they added. Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) commander terrorist Zahid Wani was among the five terrorists killed, as per reports. "5 terrorists of Pakistan sponsored proscribed terror outfits LeT and JeM killed in dual encounters in last 12 hours. JeM commander terrorist Zahid Wani and a Pakistani terrorist among the killed. Big success for us," the police informed via a tweet. Also Read | PM Narendra Modi to address 2022's first 'Mann ki Baat' According to the Kashmir Police, four of the five terrorists were killed by security personnel in the Pulwama encounter, including JeM chief Zahid Wani, and one terrorist was neutralised in the Budgam encounter. The search for another Pakistani terrorist in Jammu and Kashmir is still underway, as per sources. “One local terrorist affiliated to LeT was killed in Budgam. An AK 56 rifle has also been recovered in the operation," informed IGP Kashmir Vijay Sharma. Earlier, the Kashmir Zone Police had stated, “An encounter has broken out between security forces and terrorists in the Charar-i-Sharief area of Budgam district of Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, said local police. Encounter has started at Charar-i-Sharief area of Budgam. Police and security forces are on the job. In the month of January alone, the Jammu and Kashmir Police conducted 11 encounters, in which security personnel killed 21 terrorists, including eight foreigners. 9 active terrorists and 17 associates have also been apprehended by security forces.
