Jharkhand: Suspected Naxals blow up portion of railway tracks on Howrah-New Delhi line

Giridih, January 27: Suspected Naxals blew up a portion of railway tracks on the Howrah-New Delhi line between Chichaki and Chaudhary bandh railway stations in Jharkhand's Giridih. As a precautionary measure, the movement of trains on the Howrah-Gaya-New Delhi rail route has been stopped soon after the incident was reported. Along with this, the routes of some trains have also been changed. It may be recalled that Naxals had called a bandh in Bihar-Jharkhand. Meanwhile, they blew up a portion of the railway track in Jharkhand's Giridih. After the incident, the Naxalites have also left a note. According to Rajesh Kumar, CPRO of East Central Railway, the blast took place between Karamabad-Chichaki station in the Dhanbad division. Following the information, the operations on the incoming and outgoing line on the Gomo-Gaya (GC) section of the Howrah-Delhi rail route have been suspended due to security reasons. Following trains have been stopped:

  • Train No. 13329 Dhanbad - Patna Express is halted at Chaudharybandh
  • Train No. 18624 Hatia-Islampur Express is halted at Parasnath
  • Train No. 18609 Ranchi - Lokmanya Tilak Terminus Express is halted at Parasnath
