CUET UG 2026 exam delayed at several centres after technical glitch, NTA revises shift timings

CUET UG 2026 exam: The Common University Entrance Test (CUET UG 2026) witnessed disruptions on Saturday after a technical issue delayed examinations at multiple centres across the country, causing anxiety among students and parents.

The problem primarily impacted the second shift of the examination, with several candidates forced to wait beyond their scheduled reporting time before the test could begin.

Following the disruption, the National Testing Agency (NTA) issued revised timings for the afternoon session. Candidates were asked to report from 2.30 pm onwards, while the examination is rescheduled to start at 4 pm instead of the earlier 3 pm timing.

For students appearing in the morning session, the agency clarified that all candidates would receive the complete duration of the examination. Officials stated that students would only be allowed to leave after being given the full allotted time to attempt the paper.

In a statement, the NTA said the decision to provide compensatory time was taken to ensure that no candidate suffered any disadvantage because of the delay.

The agency attributed the disruption to a technical snag linked to its service provider, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS). According to NTA, the issue originated at the vendor’s end but was resolved shortly afterwards, allowing the examination process to continue.

The examination authority also expressed regret over the inconvenience caused and said efforts were being made to avoid similar issues in upcoming sessions.

To assist affected candidates, NTA activated its helpline support and advised students to rely only on official updates shared through the CUET UG portal and authorised communication channels.
