Maharashtra: BJP MLA's son among 7 medical students killed in car accident

Seven medical students, including BJP MLA Vijay Rahangdale's son Avishkar Rahangdale, were killed in a car accident late Monday night. According to Prashant Holkar, Superintendent of Police Wardha, the car fell off a bridge near Selsura, Maharashtra at around 11:30 pm on Monday. The victims, who have been identified as students of Sawangi Medical College in Wardha, were heading from Deoli to Wardha when their vehicle fell, according to the police. Nitesh Singh was a medical intern. After the unfortunate incident, the Centre has announced a compensation of Rs Rs 2 lakh each to the families of the victims. The PMNRF will compensate the injured with Rs 50,000 each. According to the latest reports, the students were driving through Selsura when a wild animal unexpectedly appeared in front of their car. According to preliminary investigations, the driver of the car swerved hard on the wheel to avoid the animal, causing the vehicle to fall into a ditch under a culvert.
