A 64-year-old man died while seven people were injured in a lightning strike Wednesday morning. A six-year-old boy was among the seven injured, they added.
The incident took place at around 9.30 am in Khanpur village near Sirhind town when Harvesh Singh, the deceased and others had taken shelter under a tree because of heavy rainfall.
Harvesh Singh died after a lightning strike while seven others sustained injuries, the police said.
The injured persons were taken to a nearby civil hospital. Local MLA Kuljit Singh Nagra and officials from the district administration inquired about them, the police added.
