Amit Shah Chandigarh visit: Traffic diversions in place on Oct 31 and Nov 1 ahead of Home Minister's visit

PTC News Desk: Traffic restrictions and diversions will be in place on several major roads in Panchkula on October 31 and November 1 due to the Run for Unity marathon and Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s visit to Chandigarh.

Panchkula Police has issued an advisory asking commuters to avoid affected roads during the specified hours and plan their journeys in advance. The restrictions will be imposed in two phases: first for the marathon on Saturday morning, and later for VVIP movement linked to Shah’s visit.

Traffic arrangements for run for unity

The Run for Unity will be flagged off by Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini on October 31. The marathon will begin at Shivalik Country Club and end at the VIP Gate of Mata Mansa Devi Temple.

From 5 am to 9 am, the road from the T-point before the BJP Panchkamal office towards Shivalik Country Club, MDC, and the VIP Gate of Mata Mansa Devi Temple will remain closed.

People travelling from Saketri towards Panchkula and Chandigarh have been advised to turn right at the T-point before the BJP Panchkamal office and take the route via Chandigarh Border towards Dolphin Chowk. Those travelling from Panchkula and Chandigarh towards Saketri should also use the alternative route.

Diversions for Amit Shah's visit

Further traffic restrictions are expected on Friday evening and Saturday morning due to VVIP movement connected with the Home Minister’s visit.

The routes from Shri Mata Mansa Devi Singh Dwar towards Old Panchkula, and from Suraj Cinema in Sector 1 via the PWD Rest House to the next T-point, are likely to be affected from 5 pm to 10 pm on October 31 and from 7 am to 11 am on November 1.

Commuters travelling from Pinjore and Kalka towards Chandigarh have been advised to use Majri Chowk, Sector 17/18 Chowk and Housing Board. Those travelling from Chandigarh towards Panchkula, Kalka and Pinjore can take the route via Housing Board, Sector 17/18 Chowk and Nada Sahib Road to reach Majri Chowk.

Panchkula Police has urged people to avoid unnecessary travel on the affected roads during the restricted hours, follow diversion signs and barricades, and cooperate with police personnel on duty.
