Bee attack: 40 school students injured as beehive collapses from tree in UP’s Agra

Bee attack in Agra: In an unfortunate incident,  40 school children were injured in a bee attack in the Bah region of Uttar Pradesh's Agra district on Tuesday.

The harrowing bee attack occurred when a beehive unexpectedly collapsed from a nearby tree, catching the unsuspecting children off-guard.

The attack resulted in six children being hospitalised.

Reports indicate that the school staff acted swiftly to evacuate the affected area, but not before numerous students and faculty members fell victim to the bee stings.

Outside the school premises, parents of the injured children gathered, expressing anger and alleging negligence on the part of the administration. They contended that the school authorities were aware of the presence of the beehive near the school gate but had failed to take appropriate action to address the potential danger.

In response, school principal Manju Rani Tyagi defended the administration, asserting that the beehive was situated outside the school premises, which led them to believe that an attack was unlikely. She maintained that the safety and well-being of the students were a priority for the school.

Amidst the chaos, six children were reported to be in critical condition and were swiftly referred to S.N. Medical College after receiving initial treatment at the Bah Community Health Centre, as confirmed by Jitendra Verma, the Superintendent of the health center.

As a precautionary measure, the school was temporarily closed following the incident.
