Delhi High Court evacuated after bomb threat email, no explosives found
PTC Web Desk: The Delhi High Court was placed on high alert on Friday after an email claimed that multiple bombs had been planted inside the premises. Judges, lawyers, litigants, and staff were swiftly evacuated as security agencies launched a thorough search.
According to the Delhi Police, the email demanded evacuation by 2 pm and alleged that three bombs were hidden within the court complex, though no specific locations were mentioned. A Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad (BDDS) was deployed, and the entire campus was cordoned off. After extensive checks, no suspicious items were recovered.
The email, sent from an account under the name “Kanimozhi Thevidiya,” carried rambling political references. It alleged a conspiracy against opposition leaders, threatened acid attacks, and mentioned names of political figures. It also referred to past terror incidents, foreign intelligence links, and suggested that the “Judge Chamber” would be targeted after Friday prayers.
Investigators believe the message is part of a wider pattern of hoax threats that have recently targeted schools, colleges, and institutions across the National Capital Region. Authorities are now tracing the source of the email to establish its origin and identify those responsible.
While the High Court resumed functioning after security clearance, officials emphasised that all such threats are treated with utmost seriousness until verified.
