Punjab Police ASI shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in Amritsar's Majitha

PTC News Desk: A Punjab Police ASI was shot dead by unidentified attackers early Sunday morning in Majitha, Amritsar, while he was on his way to the duty.


The attackers arrived on a motorcycle and fired two shots at the officer before fleeing the scene. The ASI was critically injured in the firing and died shortly afterward at the spot. 

The deceased officer has been identified as Joga Singh.

As soon as the incident was reported, senior police officials reached the scene and the entire area was cordoned off. Police have collected evidence from the spot and are also examining nearby CCTV footage to identify the attackers.

ASI Joga Singh, who was posted in the traffic department of the Punjab Police, was a resident of village Ghaniye in the Bangar area of Gurdaspur district.

Police have launched an investigation into the incident. After receiving information about the attack, SSP Suheel Mir Qasim, DSP Kamalmeet Singh and SHO Karam Pal Singh arrived at the scene along with police teams.
