Chhattisgarh: 21 years on, CRPF personnel unlock Ram Mandir sealed by Naxals | See Pics
PTC Web Desk: In a remarkable turn of events, Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel have reopened the doors of a Ram Mandir in Chhattisgarh's Sukma district, which had been sealed by Naxals for over two decades. The temple, situated in Keralapenda village, remained closed since 2003 due to threats issued by insurgents.
The saga of the temple mirrors the enduring faith and resilience of the villagers, who, despite facing adversity, remained steadfast in their devotion to Lord Ram. Constructed in 1970 by Bihari Maharaj, Ram Mandir temple bore witness to the unwavering dedication of villagers who traversed an 80-km distance on foot to gather construction materials, underscoring their deep-rooted reverence.
However, the temple's vibrant history took a dark turn in 2003 when Naxals, facing dwindling support from the village, prohibited worship and eventually locked its doors. As the years passed, the once-thriving temple fell into disrepair.
The tide turned with the establishment of a CRPF camp near the village, marking a pivotal moment in the community's journey. CRPF officials, recognising the significance of the temple to the villagers, embarked on a mission to restore it to its former glory. Through collaborative efforts with locals, the temple was cleansed, rituals were reinstated, and worship resumed, signifying a triumph of peace over conflict.
Commandant Himanshu Pandey of the 74th battalion recounted the collective effort that led to the temple's revival. He highlighted the determination of one family who clandestinely continued their devotion throughout the temple's closure, a testament to the enduring spirit of the community.
The reopening of the temple has not only reignited religious fervour, but also heralds a new era of positivity and development for the village. As villagers flock to the sacred site once again, CRPF personnel stand as beacons of hope, bridging communities and fostering harmony in the region.
