CJP sacks chief spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya after he defends 'insensitive' burger video amid police crackdown

PTC News Desk: In a seeming internal rift, the Cockroach Janta Party on Tuesday removed Vijeta Dahiya from the post of spokesperson, saying it "strongly condemns" his "deeply insensitive actions" after videos of him surfaced on social media during the party's protest in Delhi.

Describing Dahiya's conduct as non compliance with the movement's values, the party said that the videos emerged at a time when peaceful protestors and our team were facing brutal violence.

"We strongly condemn the deeply insensitive actions of our spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya, whose videos surfaced while peaceful protestors and our team were facing brutal police violence. Such conduct is unacceptable, shows a complete lack of judgment, and is wholly inconsistent with the values and principles of our movement," the CJP said.

Responding to the criticism, Dahiya posted a video on Tuesday saying he does not have to answer to anyone over his personal choices.

Addressing the controversy, he said, "Why did I eat a burger? That's become a big issue today. People eat burgers because they are hungry or simply feel like eating one. That's all," he said while eating a burger in the video.

Dahiya also questioned why people expected him to justify his actions. He said being a protester is not a job and that no one had elected him to that role.

He urged people to hold the government accountable instead of questioning his personal decisions. Dahiya added that he did not want to get involved in politics just to satisfy critics.

He said everything he is doing is by his own choice and for the country, and insisted that he is not accountable to anyone for what he eats. "I will eat a burger," he said.
