Kargil War veteran carries late daughter's photography to CJP protest, says 'I will be my daughter's voice'
PTC News Desk: Rajesh Mall, a Kargil War veteran while holding a photograph of his 23-year-old daughter close to chest, walked with thousands of protesters from Jantar Mantar towards Parliament on Monday.
Mall, who hails from Uttarakhand, lost his daughter Riya Kumari Thapa, a NEET aspirant from Dehradun in June after she allegedly died by suicide. A suicide note was recovered from her room that read in Hindi, “I love you, Mummy, Papa. No one is at fault.”
Since his daughter's death, Mall has been carrying her photograph and demanding answers. He also joined the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest march in New Delhi on Monday.
“I will take my daughter (photograph) wherever such protests seeking the government’s accountability are held. Whether they listen or not, I will be my daughter’s voice,” Mall said during the Cockroach Janta Party's (CJP) march to Parliament.
Mall has been sharing her story at protest rallies and public events while demanding justice. He has taken part in earlier CJP protests at Jantar Mantar and has also met Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
Mall said the government's response had made his family's pain even worse.
"The biggest tragedy is that the government has not even expressed regret so far," he said.
He described Monday's march as more than just a protest, saying it was a tribute to students, including his daughter, who had died by suicide.
