Covid surge: India records 5,676 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

The active cases in the country have risen to 37,093, with the number of people who have recovered standing at 4,42,00,079 and the death toll reaching 5,31,000.

Covid surge: India records 5,676 fresh Covid-19 cases in last 24 hours

New Delhi, April 11: India reported 5,676 new cases of Covid-19 in the past 24 hours, according to data released by the Union Health Ministry on Tuesday. 

The active cases in the country have risen to 37,093, with the number of people who have recovered standing at 4,42,00,079 and the death toll reaching 5,31,000. The recovery rate was recorded at 98.73 per cent and the active cases making up 0.08 per cent of the total cases.

The Union Health Minister, Mansukh Mandaviya, held mock drills at public and private health facilities across the country on Monday to take stock of hospital preparedness. During his visit to the Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital, he discussed quality clinical practices, infection control, hospital management, sanitation processes, and patient-centric provisions with the staff and doctors. 

He had earlier urged state health ministers to visit hospitals and oversee the mock drills on April 10 and 11. Additionally, 220.66 crore doses of the Covid vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide vaccination drive.
