CRPF jawan arrested on charges of spying for Pakistan, Pahalgam posting ended six days before attack

PTC News Desk: A CRPF jawan was arrested fo rallegedly sharing senssitive information with Pakistan's Inter-Service Intelligence (ISI). He was posted in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam and got transferred just six days before the terror attack. 


The CRPF jawan, identified as Moti Ram Jat, was arrested by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) for allegedly sharing classified information related to national security with PIOs for monetary benefits since 2023, according to officials.

The CRPG jawan has been dismissed following his arrest and is currently being interrogated by NIA officials. The officials are investigating the bandwitch of the espionage network and its allegiance with the Pahalgam Terror Attack which claimed 26 innocent lives. 

Jat landed in trouble after central agencies, working with the Army, flagged his social media activity, which allegedly "acted in violation of established norms and protocols," according to a statement issued by the CRPF.

"Concurrently, the individual has been dismissed from service with effect from 21.05.2025, under the relevant provisions of the Constitution of India read with the CRPF Rules," the statement said.

Jat was remanded to NIA custody till June 6 after he was presented before a special court.
