As the month of November is commencing soon with two days left to welcome the month of December also known as Christmas and New Year making this month as the 12th and final month of the year, it’s a chance to relax, recharge and spend quality time with your loved ones.
The month of December is the twelfth and final month of the year in the Gregorian calendar which holds significance for various reasons, including cultural, religious, and historical events.
During this month, if you are planning to complete your long-pending crucial paperwork at bank, you must be aware of the upcoming bank holidays in December, including the second and fourth Saturdays as well as Sundays.
According to the Reserve Bank of India's holiday calendar, banks will be shut for 18 days in various states and districts across Nation.
Apart from these bank holidays, banking services will also be disrupted nationwide due to strike and protest by SBI, PNB, BoB, BoI, etc from December 4-11.
December 1, 2023 (Friday): Bank holiday in Arunachal Pradesh and Nagaland on occasion of State Inauguration Day
December 3, 2023 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed across the Nation
December 4, 2023 (Monday): Bank holiday in Goa on account of Feast of St. Francis Xavier
December 9, 2023 (Saturday): Banks to be closed as December 9 is Second Saturday
December 10, 2023 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed
December 12, 2023 (Tuesday): Bank holiday in Meghalaya on account of Pa-Togan Nengminja Sangma
December 13, 2023 (Wednesday): Bank holiday in Sikkim on account of Lasoong/ Namsoong
December 14, 2023 (Thursday): Bank holiday in Sikkim on account of Lasoong/ Namsoong
December 17, 2023 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed
December 18, 2023 (Monday): Bank holiday in Meghalaya on account of Death Anniversary of U SoSo Tham
December 19, 2023 (Tuesday): Bank holiday in Goa on account of Goa Liberation Day
December 23, 2023 (Saturday): Banks to be closed as December 23 is Fourth Saturday
December 24, 2023 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed
December 25, 2023 (Monday): Both private and public banks will remain closed across nation on account of Christmas
December 26, 2023 (Tuesday): Bank holiday in Mizoram, Nagaland and Meghalaya on account of Christmas
December 27, 2023 (Wednesday): Bank holiday in Nagaland on account of Christmas
December 30, 2023 (Saturday): Bank holiday in Meghalaya on account of U Kiang Nangbah
December 31, 2023 (Sunday): Both private and public banks will remain closed
The Reserve Bank has notified the holidays under three brackets — the Negotiable Instruments Act, Holiday, Real Time Gross Settlement Holiday and Banks’ Closing of Accounts.
On the above mentioned holidays, although the banks will be closed, the online banking services will be active which will allow customers to access their bank accounts and perform various transactions at any time, day or night, from virtually anywhere with an internet connection.
