Delhi acid case shocking twist: Survivor's father plotted attack, fabricated story to seek revenge
PTC News Desk: In a shocking turn of events, the father of a 20-year-old Delhi University student, who had reportedly been attacked with acid, was arrested on Monday in a rape case after admitting to having staged the assault to frame another man, Jitender, according to sources.
The accused, identified as Akil Khan, was taken into custody after Jitender’s wife accused him of sexually assaulting her and sharing her obscene photos with her husband. She filed a rape complaint, prompting police to register an FIR. To escape the allegations, investigators said, Akil and his daughter fabricated the acid attack story to falsely implicate Jitender and his two aides, Ishan and Arman.
Akil’s confession emerged after police initially claimed that Jitender and his associates had thrown acid on the woman near Lakshmibai College in north Delhi’s Ashok Vihar on Sunday. However, further probe revealed that Akil and his daughter had staged the incident, using toilet-cleaning acid to make the attack appear real.
According to investigators, Akil admitted that he planned the hoax after learning that Jitender’s wife was about to file a rape complaint against him. Seeking revenge, he framed Jitender and his aides. Police also confirmed that Akil had prior disputes with Ishan and Arman, who were wrongly named and arrested in the case.
Two days before the alleged acid attack, on October 24, Jitender’s wife had made a police control room call accusing Akil of harassment and blackmail. She alleged that while employed at his factory between 2021 and 2024, he sexually abused her, coerced her into a physical relationship, and threatened her with explicit photos and videos.
Police said Arman and Ishan are currently in Agra with their mother Shabnam, who is expected to join the probe soon. Shabnam reportedly told police that she herself had survived an acid attack in 2018, allegedly orchestrated by Akil’s relatives. She also disclosed an ongoing property dispute with Akil over land in Delhi’s Mangolpuri, which is currently being heard in court.
